Diggers Fall to Mountain Lions

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NCAA Division II Mountain Lions were too much for the Orediggers as Tech falls 86-58.

First year head coach Carly VanDyke falls to her former head coach Sean Nelson as he starts his tenure with Colorado Springs.

The Mountain Lions hit 58.9 percent from the field while the Orediggers made 41.5 percent. Colorado dominated the boards outrebounding Montana Tech 36-22.

Kayla DeWit led Tech with 16 points and six rebounds. The junior hit 8 of 11 from the field.

Mandy Machinal and Martha Dembeck chipped in nine points each in the loss.

Abby Kirchoff had 29 points leading the Mountain Lions and Brittany Hernandez had 24 points.

The Orediggers are in Colorado Springs for the second day of the holiday tournament. Tech faces Division II Metro State tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
