Box Score Billings, MT- MSUB's Alisha Breen tallied a career high 30 points as Montana Tech fell to the Yellow Jackets 67-58. It was the second of three games for Montana Tech in the MSUB Yellow Jacket Women's Basketball Classic.
Montana Tech stayed within single digits of the reigning GNAC Conference Champions for the whole contest. The Lady Diggers were aided especially by a
Hattie Thatcher half-court buzzer beater before the intermission.
At the half, Montana Tech trailed MSUB 31-25.
Hattie Thatcher and
Mandy Machinal combined for 16 points in the first stanza. Alisha Breen's 13 points and Quinn Peoples' 8 points led the way for the Yellow Jackets early on.
MSUB went on an 8-0 run to start the second half (39-25) and didn't look back. You can thank Alisha Breen for that. The former Choteau Bulldog tallied 17 points in the second half.
Montana Tech's
Hattie Thatcher scored a career high 17 points and collected six rebounds in the losing effort. Thatcher connected on a career high four three pointers for the Lady Diggers.
Mandy Machinal and
Martha Dembek notched 15 and 12 points respectably for Coach VanDyke's squad.
Montana Tech falls to 7-6. This loss was the fifth of the season to an NCAA Division II school.
The Lady Diggers are off Saturday but play South Dakota School of Mines & Technology on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
