Helena, MT-- The Lady Diggers hadn't defeated the Fighting Saints of Carroll College in Helena since 2010. That all changed tonight when Montana Tech clipped the Saints 48-47.

The evening didn't start out very pretty for both squads as they only managed 18 points a piece in the first half. 

In the second half, the Lady Diggers got just enough offense to defeat their Frontier Conference rivals 48-47. 

Mandy Machinal had 14 points to lead the Tech effort while Kabri Emerson chipped in 13 and Sophia Baetz added 12. Machinal nearly had a double-double collecting nine rebounds for Montana Tech.

Strong defense by the Lady Orediggers held Carroll College to just 28 percent shooting, and the Saints leading scorer Bailey Snelling to just 14 points. Snelling was the only Saint in double figures. 

Montana Tech improves to 9-11 overall and 5-8 in the Frontier while Carroll College falls to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in conference.

The Lady Diggers finish their final road trip of the season against Rocky Mountain College Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Billings.
