Box Score HAVRE-- Montana Tech's fourth quarter flurry wasn't enough as the Lady Diggers fell to MSU-Northern, 71-66.
A back-and-forth first half of action excited the fans in the Armory Gymnasium as Montana Tech and MSU-Northern traded baskets to begin the contest. Early foul trouble for the Diggers allowed the Skylights to take a 30-22 lead going into the break.Â
It was the fourth quarter that made things interesting, however, as Montana Tech outscored Northern 28-13 in the final frame. Montana Tech was able to shrink a deficit that was nearing 20 points into a two possession game thanks to key post play from
Rachel Farris and
Callee Remsen. Both posts took drives to the bucket and were rewarded with trips to the free throw line.Â
Farris and Remsen combined for 32 of Montana Tech's 66 points. Farris grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists for the Digger offense while Remsen was an efficient 4-for-5 from the field and 8-for-10 from the charity stripe.Â
Natalee Faupel, who scored a game-high 30 points, iced the game down the stretch for the Lights at the free throw line. The Butte High grad was 15-for-17 from the line.Â
Montana Tech plays UGF Saturday night at the McLaughlin Center. That game will tip off at 5:30 PM.Â
