Diggers Rally to Defeat Centurions in Opener 92-84

BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech rallied back from six points down to defeat Yellowstone Christian College 92-84 in Coach Adam Hiatt's Oredigger debut.

Trailing by six points in the two minutes left in the game, the Orediggers went on an 8-2 run to tie the game up at 77-77 on a John Chapman triple.

Montana Tech used the momentum of forcing overtime and threes by Chris O'Neill and Lukas Vining to jump the Diggers into the lead early in the extra frame.
Montana Tech went on to outscore the Centurions 15-7 in the overtime period.

The Orediggers led at the half 38-31 but hot shooting by Yellowstone Christian helped the Centurions pull ahead of Montana Tech midway through the second half.
The Centurions shot 42.9 percent from three point land and hit seven threes in the second half.

Montana Tech utilized strong performances by point guard Chris O'Neill who scored a game-high 26 points on 10-for-13 shooting, and Flemming Okeke who scored 15 points on 5-for-6 shooting and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.

Lukas Vining and the Carson Dummer each scored 14 for Montana Tech while 6-foot-9 freshman Jordan Jones came off the bench to score eight points and grab six rebounds.

The Orediggers shot a staggering 53.3 percent from the floor and had 15 assists in the victory.
