BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech (2-0) utilized a strong third quarter to upend the Dickinson State Blue Hawks 73-62 on Saturday at Kelvin Sampson Court.
The Diggers outscored Dickinson State 28-17 in the third quarter and shot 8-of-11 from downtown in the second half.
Hattie Thatcher led the Orediggers with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Thatcher was one of four Diggers to hit double figures.
Kourtney Coverdell also tallied 14 points while
Rachel Farris and
Martha Dembek added 12 apiece. Farris was 6-of-12 from the field and Dembek hit four threes for Montana Tech.
Montana Tech shot 42 percent from the floor and 46 percent from three in the victory while holding Dickinson State to just 36 percent from the field and 31 percent from deep.
Montana Tech has a quick turnaround as the Diggers take the floor against Northwest Indian College tomorrow at 2PM.
