CHANDLER, Arizona—Montana Tech clawed back from a double-digit deficit in the second half but fell to Calgary, 70-67.
The Diggers were led in the first half by
John Chapman who opened the scoring with a pair of jumpers and a three pointer. The Diggers trailed 41-34 at the intermission after shooting 53 percent from the floor.
The Orediggers struggled to start the second half falling behind by 10 points early but the Diggers cut into the Dinos' lead down the stretch. Montana Tech held Calgary to just 30 percent shooting in the second half and took the lead 61-59 on a
Dylan Pannabecker three pointer with 2:40 left. Pannabecker finished the game with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
The Dinos iced the contest down the stretch with free throws from the game's leading scorer Thomas Cooper who was 16-for-17 from the stripe on his way to 31 markers.
Sadiq Inuwa scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the exhibition contest.
Lukas Vining scored six points and grabbed seven rounds in an all-around effort for the Diggers.
Montana Tech takes on nationally ranked Arizona Christian tomorrow night in their final game of the Cactus Classic at 5 P.M.
