LEWISTON, Idaho— The L-C State Warriors used a big second half to best Montana Tech 79-68.
In a first half to be remembered both teams torched the nylon. Montana Tech shot 59.2 percent from the floor and L-C State shot 53.5 percent. Montana Tech led 43-41 at the intermission.
The Diggers (6-8, 0-3) fed the hot hand of
John Chapman early as the junior from Frenchtown scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the first half. Chapman was 9-for-11 from the floor and made his first four three-pointers to start the night.
Along with Chapman's hot shooting night, the Diggers got 20 points from point guard
Chris O'Neill and 12 points, five assists, and four rebounds from
Lukas Vining.
Montana Tech finished the game shooting 53 percent and held L-C State to just 47 percent shooting. However, the Diggers turned the ball over 19 times in the game and 10 times in the second half in the loss.
Doug McDaniel led four Warriors in double figures with a double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Diggers travel to Dillon on Thursday to take on Montana Western at 7:30 P.M. at Straugh Gymnasium.
