Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho— A cold second shooting second half doomed Montana Tech as the Diggers fell to L-C State 68-46.
Montana Tech (7-7, 1-2) jumped out to an early 12-6 advantage thanks to a pair of quick triples by
Hattie Thatcher. The Diggers continued to put their foot on the gas pedal and took a 20-14 lead at the end of the first quarter after
Callee Remsen made back-to-back buckets.
Despite being outscored 11-6 in the second quarter, the Orediggers led 26-25 at the intermission. Montana Tech led at the half despite shooting just 33.3 percent from the field but the Diggers outrebounded the Warriors 22-17 in the first two frames.
Montana Tech struggled to score the ball in the second half and saw their one-point halftime lead disappear. L-C State outscored the Diggers 18-8 in the third quarter and 25-12 in the fourth.
The one-two punch of Brittany Tackett and Caelyn Orlandi proved too much for Montana Tech as the duo combined for 42 points on the night.
Hattie Thatcher finished the night with 12 points, eight boards, and five assists.
Martha Dembek added six points and eight rebounds. The Diggers finished the contest shooting just 3-for-19 from downtown.
Montana Tech takes on Montana Western in Dillon Thursday night at 5:30 P.M.
