BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech lit up the second half downing the University of Great Falls 62-53.
The Orediggers (7-17, 2-10) shot 56 percent in the last half and hit 5 of 9 from three point range. They outscored the Argos 42-31 in the second frame.
The victory is the second against the University of Great Falls this season.
The Argos (10-11, 3-9) are just one game ahead of the Orediggers in the Frontier Conference standings.
Jalen Coates shot 6 for 9 from the field and 3 for 5 from long to lead the Diggers with 19 points. He also had two rebounds and a pair of steals. He was a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line.
Cruz Ginns Jr. grabbed a game high 12 rebounds and netted seven. He also had three assists and two blocks playing over 37 minutes in the game. He came out with a couple minutes left, he hit the hardwood extremely hard after attempting a dunk in traffic on a breakaway.
Redshirt freshman
Kale Guldseth had a career high 13 points. The Butte native shot 4 for 7 from the field and 2 for 3 from three.
The Argos were 1 for 9 from three in the game.
Center Daniel Arcau had a game high 26 points for the Argos. He also had seven rebounds.
Montana Tech is on the road next Thursday when they travel to Carroll College.
