LEWISTON, Idaho— A rough start after a quick turnaround didn't help Montana Tech as the Diggers lost to L-C State 96-57 Friday night.
A night after defeating the No. 25 Carroll College Fighting Saints in Butte the Orediggers found themselves trailing No. 2 Lewis-Clark State 31-9 after the first quarter in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Orediggers struggled to score the ball in the opening quarter falling behind 7-2 just two minutes in. The Orediggers rebounded with a strong quarter to play even with the L-C Warriors scoring 14 apiece.
Montana Tech shot just 33.8 percent from the floor while L-C State shot 53 percent. The Warriors made seven triples and shot 17-for-22 from the free throw line.
Montana Tech was buoyed by
Hattie Thatcher who scored 16 points while
Monica Landdeck added 14 points on 4-of-8 from downtown.
Martha Dembek chipped in nine points while
Kourtney Coverdell and
Shay Potter added seven and five respectively.
Montana Tech falls to 9-9 overall and 3-4 in Frontier Conference play.
The Orediggers hit the road to take on MSU-Northern at 6 P.M. at the Armory Gymnasium in Havre on Friday night.
