BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech men's basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with victory over Yellowstone Christian College 114-56 on Friday Night on Kelvin Sampson Court.
Tech led 66-24 at the half shooting 68.4 percent from the field and a staggering 11-for-15 from three-point range. The Diggers used balanced minutes to play 12 different players in the contest.
Montana Tech shot a blistering 65.2 percent for the game and were 17-for-27 from downtown in the victory.
Dylan Pannabecker led all Tech scorers with 17 points on 7-of-7 shooting while also notching a game-high five steals. Senior
John Chapman scored 15 points, while freshman
Nick Fitts added 14 markers.
Trent Molesworth rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points.
Chris O'Neill finished with nine points and seven assists in just 21 minutes of action.
Montana Tech had 30 assists in the contest and only seven turnovers. The Diggers turned over the Centurions 21 times.
Montana Tech (1-0) travels to the University of Utah on Wednesday to take on the Utes in an exhibition in the Huntsman Center. The Diggers return home and host a tournament next Friday-Saturday.
