BUTTE-- The Montana Tech Lady Orediggers were able to fend off St. Thomas University 74-63 Tuesday night on Kelvin Sampson Court.

The Orediggers (5-0) jumped out to an impressive 44-25 lead at the midway mark of the contest before St. Thomas used an 18-2 third quarter to get back in the ballgame.

Montana Tech was able to outscore the Bobcats 23-14 in the fourth quarter to hold on for the victory.

The Diggers were powered on offense by four double figure scorers. Kaylynn and Kourtney Coverdell scored 16 and 14 points apiece to lead the Tech offense. Kaylynn finished the game with an impressive stat line of 12 rebounds and five assists.  

Monica Landdeck scored 13 points and Kaylee Zard added 10 for Montana Tech. Shay Potter led the way on the boards collecting 15 caroms to go along with six points.

Chakari Merritt scored 13 points to lead the Bobcats.

Montana Tech shot 35 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Bobcats 58-to-35 on the glass. The Diggers had 22 offensive rebounds in the contest.

Montana Tech improves to 5-0 overall and plays in College of Idaho on Friday in a tournament hosted in Lewiston, Idaho by Lewis-Clark State. That game tips off at 3 p.m. MST.
