BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech women's basketball lost a heartbreaker to No. 2 Lewis-Clark State on a last second three-pointer by Jansen Edminston 78-75.
Freshman
Mesa Williams hit a three pointer with 1:30 left in the game to knot the teams at 72. After the Warriors missed two field goal attempts, Williams hit another three to pull ahead 75-72 with just a minute left.
Edminston responded with a three pointer for the Warriors to tie the game again with 40 seconds left to play.
After letting the clock run down, the Orediggers missed two attempts before the Warriors Hailey Turner rebounded the ball and called a timeout with just under two seconds to play. Edminston finished the game with a long three.
The Orediggers led 46-32 at half time. Tech shot 48.6 percent from the field and hit 9 of 15 from beyond the arc. The Warrior hit just 2 of 10 from long in the first half.
The Warriors chipped away in the second half finally tying the game with just under eight minutes to go in the game.
Tech finished shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 12 of 24 from deep.
William led all scorers with 23 points hitting 8 of 11 from the field and 5 of 5 from three. The White Sulphur Springs product also had 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
Monica Landdeck had 13 points and 3 steals.
Hannah Sparks had 12 points and
Shay Potter had 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Edminston led the Warriors with 13 points and 7 assists.
The Orediggers (8-4, 0-2) are still looking for their first conference victory. Tech returns to action against the University of Calgary on December 28
th in Helena.
