BUTTE, Mont. –
Shay Potter led the Montana Tech Orediggers in the upset over (RV) Montana State Northern 71-55.
The sophomore center finished with a double-double, her third of the season. Potter had a season-high 25 points shooting 10 of 13 from the field and a perfect 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Potter grabe 11 boards.
The Orediggers led by 10 at the break 30-20. Tech outshot the Skylights 41.7 percent to just 29.2 in the first frame.
Both teams struggled from three point range in the game, but shined from the free throw line. The Orediggers hit 22 of 25 and the Skylights were 18 of 19.
The Orediggers had 11 assists and 11 steals.
Kourtney Coverdell and
Kaylee Zard were the only other Diggers in double-digits with 10 points each. Zard had a perfect night hitting 4 of 4 from the field and 2 for 2 from the line. Zard also had 8 rebounds.
Montana Tech (11-4, 1-2) wins their first Frontier game of the young conference slate. The Orediggers travel to Great Falls to face the University of Providence on Saturday.
