BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech defeated (RV) Carroll College 58-50 and earned the right to host the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament next week.
The Orediggers (15-14, 9-9) downed the Saints (18-11, 8-9) for the second time at home this season and are 2-1 against the Saints on the year.
Senior forward
Callee Remsen came off the bench with a season high 13 points shooting 5 of 8 from the field and 2 for 4 from the free throw line.
The Orediggers led 16-9 after the first frame, but the Saints powered back trailing 27-25 at the break. Carroll tied the game 37-37 going into the final quarter. The Oredigger rattled off six straight points in the fourth quarter and held the lead down the stretch.
The Orediggers went 13 of 16 from the free throw line in the game.
Martha Dembek and
Hattie Thatcher had 11 points each. Dembek completed a double-double pulling down 10 rebounds.
Carroll's long shot was held in check as they went a dismal 1 of 12 from three point range.
Hannah Dean had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Saints.
Montana Tech hosts Carroll College again on Tuesday February 28
th at 7 p.m. at the HPER Complex.
