BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech women's basketball team fell to rival No. 24 Carroll College in Frontier Conference action Thursday.
The Orediggers (11-6, Frontier 1-4) led 17-16 after the first frame. The Saints pulled ahead 27-25 with 1:11 in the second quarter on a Brittney Johnson three-pointer. Carroll took a 30-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Montana Tech trailed by as many as nine in the third before pulling ahead by one 43-42 on a three point play from
Shay Potter with 1:13 to go. Carroll tied the score at 44 at the end of the quarter. The Saints pulled ahead in the final quarter for the victory.
Sophomore center Potter finished with her third straight double-double and fifth of the season. Potter had 13 points and 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action. Potter got into foul trouble early as fouls plagued the Diggers. She played just 15 minutes in the game.
Monica Landdeck led the Diggers with 14 points. The senior had 4 rebounds and a pair of assists.
Freshman
Mesa Williams had 7 points off the bench.
Bailey Pasta led the Saints with 14 points. Michaela Dowdy had 12 and Hannah Dean and Danielle Wagner each pitched in 10.
Montana Tech travels to Billings taking on the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears Saturday.
