BUTTE, Mont. – Providence's Stephanie McDonagh drove to the basket scoring the go ahead field goal with just 5.6 seconds left to play closing out Montana Tech's regular season with a loss 73-71.
The Orediggers (14-16, 4-14) had a shot at the basket, but couldn't get to the hoop.
Tech led 43-40 at halftime, but the Argos were able to move ahead in the third before the final minute heroics.
All four seniors hit double-digits for Senior Night led by 18 points from
Kourtney Coverdell. Kourtney hit 5 of 9 form the field and 7 of 8 from the free throw line.
Kaylynn Coverdell had 14 points.
Monica Landdeck netted 11 and
Bailey Armbruster had 10.
Shay Potter also hit double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Kaylee Zard had another great night on the boards grabbing 12.
Parker Esary led the Argos with 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting. Esary also grabbed nine rebounds.
Montana Tech takes to the road on Tuesday for the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament. The Orediggers travel to Billings to face Rocky Mountain College. The Battlin' Bears had defeated the Diggers all three meetings this season.
