BUTTE, Mont. – The No. 20 Orediggers suffered their first conference loss of the year to No. 6 Rocky Mountain College 25-23, 25-15, 25-18.
Montana Tech (11-7, 3-1) became the next victim of a tough Rocky Mountain (16-1, 4-0) squad who are now alone at the top of the Frontier Conference standings.
Despite the final score, neither team dominated at the net. Both teams finished with 30 kills. Rocky had a team hitting percentage of .128 while the Diggers hit just .050 in the match.
Rocky had 29 hitting errors and Tech posted 26.
Karina Mickelson and
Heather Thompson had eight kills each.
Masha Korol had just six kills on 40 swings and committed nine errors.
Olivia L'Ami had a match-high nine kills for the Bears.
Montana Tech travels to Helena on Wednesday to face off against Carroll College.
