Lewiston, Idaho- Montana Tech capped off their fall Frontier Conference schedule with the men placing fourth and the women taking sixth at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Lewis-Clark State College at the Lewiston Country Club on Tuesday.
The Oredigger men shot a final round 298 (+10) and finished the tournament with a three-round score of 901. The Diggers finished behind host L-C State (876), who won the team title, Rocky Mountain College (887), and North Idaho College (898).
Montana Tech's
Sean Ramsbacher finished T-6
th at the event after shooting a 1-under-par 71, while freshman
Brady Cady finished T-10
th after carding a 76. Freshman
Matt Hobbs fired a 78 to finish T-18
th,
Trey Hoagland finished T-23
rd after a 74, and
Ryan Keenan shot a 77 to end the tournament T-36
th. Playing as an individual,
Bridger Martin finished 41
st after an 82 in the last round.
"Obviously I was a bit underwhelmed by our performance on day one, but I'm proud that we battled back today," said Coach Ryan. "I don't think this was the tournament performance we hoped for, but there's a lot to be excited about with this team and program going forward. We've just got to eliminate some mistakes and give ourselves more scoring opportunities."
The Oredigger women's team ended the event in sixth place after shooting a team score of 354 on Tuesday.
Freshman
Emily Garden carded an 83 to finish T-15
th, while
Skyler Martin shot an 89 to finish T-17
th.
Tanna Campbell also finished with an 89 to place 31
st while
Emily Kelly and
Kelsey Parker shot 96 and 93 in the last round to place 35
th and 38
th.
"This can be a really difficult golf course," said Ryan. "It can really eat you up if you're just a fraction off target. I think the ladies did a much better job of limiting the big numbers on day two."
The event finishes the fall Frontier Conference schedule for the Diggers.
