BUTTE, Mont.- The Oredigger women's basketball team earned their first victory of the season defeating Salish-Kootenai College 109-32 on Friday night in the Fall Classic Tournament at Kelvin Sampson Court.
The Orediggers jumped out to a commanding 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 54-11 at the half. The Diggers shot 58.4% from the field, 37.5% from three, and 61.95 from the free throw line.
Montana Tech limited SKC to just 18.3% shooting from the floor and forced the Bison into 26 turnovers. The Orediggers were led in scoring by
Brooke Heggie who racked up 14 markers on 6-for-7 shooting,
Mollie Peoples who tallied 13 points,
Mesa Williams and
Tavia Rooney who each chipped in 12, and
Dani Urick and
Hailey Crawford who both scored 11 points. In all, 12 different Orediggers saw action and scored in the contest.
Montana Tech (1-1) takes on College of Idaho Saturday night at 5 P.M. in the final game of the Fall Classic.Â
