Top Seed at Tournament Time
Montana Tech finished the Frontier Conference schedule with five straight victories to claim the top spot in the Frontier Conference Tournament this weekend in Great Falls. The Orediggers (24-6, 9-3) defeated Northern, Western, No. 16 Rocky, Carroll, and RV Lewis-Clark State over the streak. Montana Tech won the tiebreaker with Providence who also finished the conference schedule at 9-3.
 
Hopcroft Earns National Award
Montana Tech libero Sabrina Hopcroft made her final road match a memorable one registering a school record 53 digs in the four set victory over rival Carroll College. Hopcroft was named the Frontier Conference Defender of the Week and the NAIA Defender of the Week for her performance. Hopcroft has a school record 2,457 career digs for the Orediggers.
 
Victory at Carroll
The Orediggers won their matchup against the Fighting Saints in Helena in four sets, 23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-19. Montana Tech rebounded to win after dropping the first set of the match, this was just the second time all season the Diggers have won after losing the first set.
 
Top Ranked Team
The Orediggers remained at No. 17 in the NAIA National Volleyball Coaches Poll that was released on Wednesday. Accompanying Montana Tech from the Frontier Conference in the poll is No. 19 Providence along with both Lewis –Clark State and Rocky who are receiving votes.
 
Conference Leading Libero
Montana Tech libero Sabrina Hopcroft  leads the Frontier Conference in digs. Hopcroft, a senior from Florence, Mont., is averaging 5.9 digs per set. Hopcroft's 623 digs this season ranks fourth all time for Montana Tech. Hopcroft is 126 digs from setting the school's all-time record for digs in a season that was set by Kimmy Kavran in 2012 (749). 
 
Conference Leading Setter
Montana Tech setter McKenna Kaelber leads the conference averaging 9.4 assists per set. The Oredigger freshman, has been named the Frontier Conference Setter of the Week four times and earned the NAIA National Setter of the Week once. Kaelber had 48 assists to lead the Diggers in their four set victory over Carroll College last week.
 
Familiar Territory
The Frontier Conference volleyball tournament is at the McLaughlin Center on the campus of the University of Providence. The Orediggers are 3-0 at the McLaughlin Center this season and 8-4 going back to the 2016 season. Montana Tech played in the championship match the last time the Frontier Conference tournament was held in Great Falls in 2016.
 
Dynamic Duo
Montana Tech freshman Maureen Jessop and junior Karina Mickelson are second and third in the Frontier Conference averaging 3.3 and 3.1 kills per set. Jessop leads the Diggers hitting for a .216 clip while Mickelson is hitting for a .170 average. Jessop and Mickelson have 22 and 19 matches with double-digit kills to their credit.
