Orediggers Drop Exhibition to BYU

PROVO, UTAH-  The Orediggers dropped an exhibition contest to the Cougars of Brigham Young University on Saturday afternoon at the Marriott Center, 98-63.

The game was played in front of the largest crowd the Orediggers will likely see all season as the Cougars packed 10,990 fans into the Marriott Center for matinee matchup. The game against the Cougars was a neat experience for coach Adam Hiatt who earned his graduate degree from BYU.

The Orediggers, who open up Frontier Conference play on Tuesday night against Carroll College in Helena, shot 43.1% from the floor and 53.3% from downtown for the contest. BYU, who just placed 3rd at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational Tournament in Hawaii earlier this week, shot 68.6% from the floor.

Taylor England led the Orediggers with 16 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the floor while Derrius Collins scored 11. Sindou Diallo added 9, Christian Jones scored 8, and Troy Owens Jr. added 5.

The Orediggers trailed BYU 51 to 35 at halftime.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Jake Toolson who tallied 17 points.

Montana Tech plays Carroll College in Helena at 7 p.m on Tuesday.
