Orediggers Drop Frontier Opener to No. 7 Saints

HELENA, Mont.- Montana Tech hung tough with No. 7 Carroll College for the first 15 minutes in the PE Center before falling 78-51 on Tuesday night. 

The Orediggers (8-2, 0-1) trailed the Saints 17-16 at the end of the first quarter. After that the turnover bug bit the Diggers as Montana Tech struggled with the Saints' pressure. The Orediggers were forced into 18 turnovers in the contest as Carroll pulled ahead 41-24 at the intermission. 

Montana Tech's Mesa Williams and Kaylee Zard scored 13 and 12 points apiece while Tavia Rooney added a near double-double with 8 points and 9 boards. Montana Tech shot 41.9% from the floor but just 23.1% from three. 

Carroll College was led by Christine Denny who scored 15 points. The Saints shot 51.8% from the floor for the game. 

Montana Tech gets back in action on Saturday night at Kelvin Sampson Court when they  host Lewis-Clark State at 5:30 p.m.
