BUTTE, Mont.- Montana Tech women's basketball team comeback attempt against the Argos of the University of Providence ran out of time on Thursday night at Kelvin Sampson Court, 74-71.
Montana Tech (11-6, 1-4 Conf.) trailed by as many as 13 points in the third quarter before battling back over the next 15 minutes to make it a one possession game. The Orediggers shot 44.4% in the back-and-forth contest with the Argos who finished the night shooting 47.3%. Montana Tech struggled from the outside going 3-for-13 from deep while the Argos knocked down 10 triples on the night.Â
Montana Tech's offensive attack was highlighted by
Mesa Williams who scored 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting and
Kaylee Zard who scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The double-double was the first of the season for the senior post. Montana Tech was an impressive 20-for-24 from the free throw line in the victory.Â
The Argos, who held a five point advantage at halftime, 36-31, were led in scoring by Bailey Cartwright who scored 19 points.Â
Montana Tech returns to action on Saturday when they host MSU-Northern at Kelvin Sampson Court at 5:30 p.m.Â
