BUTTE, Mont.- The one-two punch of
Taylor England and
Sindou Diallo was too much for MSU-Northern on Saturday night as the Orediggers won 75-64 at Kelvin Sampson Court.
The Orediggers (11-6, 3-3 Conf.) defeated the Lights for the first time at Kelvin Sampson Court since 2012 and snapped a 12-game losing skid that dated back to 2015. Montana Tech's efficiency on offense helped them jump out to a 39-28 advantage at the half. Montana Tech shot 56 percent in the first half and 53 percent for the game. The Diggers held Northern to 44.9 percent shooting and forced the Lights into 12 turnovers.
"Tonight was one of the most complete games we have played to this point," said Montana Tech head coach
Adam Hiatt. "Our energy and togetherness were fantastic."
Montana Tech's success on offense was thanks to big nights from

Drew Huse and
Christian Jones each added five points.
Derrius Collins and
Troy Owens Jr. tallied four points and
Cody Baumstarck and
Connor Kieckbusch scored three points and two points respectively.
Huse's five points came at a critical juncture where Montana Tech's lead had shrunk to single digits with under five minutes to play. The guard made scored in the lane and then knocked down a corner triple to put Montana Tech ahead by nine points, 69-60.
"Northern is one of the best coached teams in the country, so to be able to defend them the way we did was incredible," added Hiatt.
The Diggers held the Lights best scorers in check with Kavon Bey scoring 18 points and Adam Huse tallied 13 points.
"We loved seeing our fans turn out again tonight and hope to keep this rolling into next week."
Montana Tech is home again on Thursday when they host Rocky Mountain College at 7:30 p.m. at Kelvin Sampson Court.
