DICKINSON, ND- A familiar face spoiled Montana Tech's season opening game against the Blue Hawks on Friday night, 82-59.
Former Montana Tech assistant coach Derek Selvig's Blue Hawks upset the Orediggers in both squad's season opening contest. Selvig, who spent four years as an assistant at Montana Tech, saw his squad jump out to a 44-26 halftime advantage.
Dickinson State (1-0) shot 40-percent from the floor and knocked down six threes in the first half while Montana Tech shot just 34.6 percent in the first frame.
Taylor England led the Orediggers scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Markieth Brown Jr. scored 11 points in his Montana Tech debut.
Ajdin Toskic led four Dickinson State scorers who reached double figures with 17 points.
Montana Tech returns to action next Thursday when they host Yellowstone Christian College.
