Scouting No. 6 the Fighting Saints
The Carroll College Fighting Saints are of to a strong 5-0 start to the season with their last win coming over (RV) Lewis-Clark State 99-48 on November 28th. The Saints are ranked No. 6 in the nation and led in scoring by Danielle Wagner and University of Montana transfer Jamie Pickens who both average 13.8 PPG. Long Awaited Return
Montana Tech is playing at home for the first time this season after a series of COVID related cancellations. The Orediggers return four of last season's top five scorers in
Mesa Williams (15.2 PPG),
Tavia Rooney (11.1 PPG),
Mollie Peoples (10.3 PPG), and
Dani Urick (9.7 PPG). These four players accounted for nearly 70 percent of the team's 67.3 points per game in 2019-20.Â

The Frontier Conference schedule is returning to back-to-back contests with the same opponent for the first time since the 1998-1999 season which was before the Frontier Conference expanded to include Westminster College and Lewis-Clark State College.

Leading Rebounder
Montana Tech senior
Mollie Peoples was named the Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2 steals. Peoples scored a career high 26 points and knocked down a career high 8 three pointers in the Diggers loss to Western on Sunday. The senior from Butte shot 14-for-23 from the field and was 13-for-21 from beyond the arc for the weekend.

Montana Tech senior
Mesa Williams was named to the Frontier Conference preseason all-conference team for the second consecutive year. Williams has twice been named a Honorable Mention All-American and was the fourth leading scorer in the Frontier Conference averaging 15.2 PPG last season. Williams enters her senior season as the 17th all-time leading scorer having scored 1,037 career points and
Kelsey DeWit (1,083) by 46 points for 16th all-time.
