BUTTE, Mont.- Montana Tech's strong fourth quarter helped the Orediggers fend off University of Providence at Kelvin Sampson Court Saturday night, 89-77.
The Orediggers (14-12, 4-10 Conf.) outscored the Argos 32-17 in the final frame to cap off
Kaylee Zard's senior night.
Montana Tech honored Zard pregame and the senior went on a tear for the rest of the contest. Zard led the Orediggers with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Zard went 6-for-8 from the floor and 12-for-14 at the free throw line to help the Diggers secure the win. Three other Orediggers were in double figures as
Dani Urick added 22 points,
Tavia Rooney scored 17, and
Mesa Williams added 16 for Montana Tech in the victory.
Hailey Crawford added 6 points and
Mollie Peoples scored 4.
Providence was led in scoring by Kennedy Cartwright who scored 19 points.Â
Montana Tech finished the night shooting 57.1% from the floor while Providence shot 31% for the game.Â
The Orediggers, who have won two straight, return to action when they play Carroll College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
