BUTTE, Mont.- Montana Tech hung tough with No. 16 Carroll College for three quarters as the Saints defeated the Orediggers 71-52.
Montana Tech (14-13, 4-11 Conf.) trailed the Fighting Saints by just seven points at halftime, 31-24. The Orediggers main threat on the evening was
Tavia Rooney who registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Mesa Williams added 14 points,
Kaylee Zard had 9 points and 8 rebounds,
Dani Urick scored 5,
Hailey Crawford had 4, and
Mollie Peoples tallied 2 points.Â
The Orediggers shot 40% from the floor while the Fighting Saints shot 45.3% and 40% from three.Â
Carroll College was led in scoring by Maddie Geritz who tallied a career-high 21 points coming off the bench.Â
Montana Tech hosts No. 21 Lewis-Clark State on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
