DILLON, Mont. – Montana Tech held off Montana Western down the stretch winning 86-81.
Drew Huse hit four free throws in the final minute dashing the Bulldogs hopes.
The Orediggers trailed early in the first half with Western holding a six point lead. Tech went on a seven point run going ahead of the Bulldogs 28-27 with 4:54 to go in the half.
Tech took a 38-35 lead going into the locker room at the break.
The Orediggers shot 51.85 percent from the field and hit 5 of 11 from three point range in the first half. Tech finished with a 53.7 field goal percentage in game.
Western shot 34.26 percent in the first half with Tech pulling down 24 rebounds to just 16 by the Bulldogs.
Sindou Diallo scored 13 points in the first frame going 4 for 4 from the field. Diallo finished with 31 points shooting 10 of 13 in the game and hitting 9 of 11 from the line. He added 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Markieth Brown Jr. hit a pair of deep threes late in the second half to put the Orediggers in the lead for good. Brown finished with 19 points while shooting 5 of 11 from beyond the arc.
Huse had 10 points and
Taylor England added 9.
England and
Cody Baumstarck led at the boards with 12 and 11 rebounds.
Jalen Hodges led the Bulldogs with 26 points. Michael Haverfield had 16 points and Tanner Haverfield added 15.
The Orediggers (7-7, Frontier 7-5) return home this weekend hosting Montana Western (4-6, Frontier 3-6).
