HELENA, Mont. – Eastern Oregon topped the Montana Tech men's basketball team in the season opener 92-82 at the Comfort Suites Classic.
The Mountaineers (1-0) outscored the Orediggers (0-1) in the second half to win their first game of the season.
Tech led 42-41 at halftime but Eastern Oregon used a 13-2 run late in the half to take a lead they would hold to the final buzzer.
The Mountaineers shot 55.8 percent from the field and hit 18 of 19 from the free throw line. The shot 12 of 22 from three point range.
The Orediggers shot 59.2 percent from the field.
Tech was outrebounded by Eastern Oregon 30-17.
Caleb Bellach led the Orediggers with 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. The sophomore transfer shot 10 of 15 from the field and hit 3 of 4 from long.
Taylor England had 17 points and 3 rebounds.
Keeley Blake had 13 points and
Drew Huse had 12.
Sindou Diallo finished with 10 points and 3 assists.
Max McCullough led the Mountaineers with 38 points shooting 8 of 14 from three point range.
The Orediggers finish the weekend against SAGU American Indian College at noon tomorrow.
