BILLINGS, Mont.- A hot-shooting third quarter for the Yellowjackets doomed Montana Tech on Monday against MSU-Billings as the Diggers fell 67-54 in the exhbition contest.
Montana Tech (0-2) trailed MSUB by just two points at halftime, 26-24, before being outscored 26-17 in the third quarter. The Yellowjackets were an impressive 10-18 from the floor and 5-for-8 from three point territory in the third quarter. Montana Tech trailed by 11 points heading into the fourth quarter. The Yellowjackets outscored the Diggers 15-13 in the fourth quarter.
The Orediggers were led in scoring by
Dani Urick's nine points, while
Celestina Faletoi scored eight.
Ally Cleverly,
Madison Allen, and
Soda Rice each chipped in seven,
Tavia Rooney scored six,
Brooke Heggie five,
McKayla Kloker 3, and
Mollie Peoples 2.
The Yellowjackets were led in scoring by Shayla Montague who tallied 20 points.
Montana Tech shot 35.8% from the floor and 27.8% from three while MSUB went 40.0% from the floor and 41.7% from downtown.
Montana Tech is back in action on Thursday when they play Walla Walla at 7 p.m.
