LEWISTON, Idaho – Montana Tech women's basketball took Lewis-Clark State into triple overtime, but fell just short losing 79-74.
The Orediggers (3-3) have not defeated the Warriors since December 2015.
Tech started off slow hitting just 3 of 15 in the first quarter trailing LC-State 20-7. The Orediggers started chipping away in the second going into halftime down 32-22.
The Orediggers used a huge third quarter outscoring the Warriors 20-9 in the third and took a slim lead 42-41 into the fourth quarter.
Brooke Heggie hit a layup with 1:52 to go in the game tying the score at 52. Neither team scored in the final minute push the game to the first overtime.
The Orediggers were up 72-71 in the third overtime when Callie Stevens made back-to-back three pointers for the Warriors to take a 77-72 lead. LC-State held the lead to the final buzzer.
Tavia Rooney had her third straight double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Heggie finished with 16 points and five rebounds.
Celestina Faletoi had 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Warriors had three players reach a double-double as LC-State led 67-57 at the boards.
Sara Muehlhausen had 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Maddie Holm had 14 points and 16 boards.
Heidi Sellmann had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Montana Tech faces Eastern Oregon tomorrow at 2 p.m.
