LEWISTON, Idaho – Montana Tech women's basketball bounced back after last nights marathon holding off Eastern Oregon down the stretch 76-73 at the Twin Rivers Physical Therapy LC-State Tournament.
The Orediggers (4-3) jumped ahead of the Mountaineers in the first half leading 34-28 at the break. Tech increased their lead in the third taking a 58-45 lead into the final frame and held off the Mountaineer in the final minute.
Tech shot 44.9 percent from the field and hit 7 of 16 from beyond the arc.
Eastern shot 35.1 percent from the field and made 4 of 19 from three point range.
Tavia Rooney had her fourth straight double-double finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Brooke Heggie led the team with 13 points shouting 4 for 7 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Heggie also had seven rebounds.
Dani Urick had 12 points and
Mollie Peoples finished with 10.
Adyson Harris led the Mountaineers with 23 points and eight rebounds.
Montana Tech continues their nonconference schedule on the road next week in Oregon. The Orediggers take on Corban University next Friday in Salem.
