WHITEFISH, Mont. – The Frontier Conference announced the first round of the Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament today. Montana Tech finished second in the regular season standings and receive a first round bye.

Carroll College hosts the tournament at the P.E. Center in Helena this weekend. The first round starts at 11 a.m. Friday. The championship match is Saturday at 7 p.m.

The defending Frontier Conference Tournament Champion University of Providence won the regular season title and also receive a first round bye. The Argos play the lowest seed remaining after the first round and the Orediggers face the highest seed. Tech is slated to play in the 7 p.m. match on Friday.

MSU-Northern faces Rocky Mountain and Carroll College takes on Montana Western in first round action.

The Orediggers (21-8, 7-3) finished the regular season winning their last four matches. Tech has defeated every Frontier school at least once except for Providence. The Argos finished their conference schedule unbeaten.

No. 17 Montana Tech and No. 8 Providence are the only two schools ranked in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. A new poll is released this week.

The winner of the tournament receives the automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. A team can also receive an at-large bid. The first round of the NAIA National Tournament starts the following weekend. All teams play in the first round at host locations before moving on to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa November 30 – December 4.
