BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech offense hit early, but it was the No. 23 Montana Western offense that caught fire taking the victory at Alumni Coliseum 45-21.
The Orediggers (1-3) scored on their first drive of the game on a
Blake Counts 4-yard touchdown run with 10:13 left in the first quarter.
The Tech defense stopped the Bulldog offense on their next drive when
Kade Wilcox intercepted quarterback Jon Jund.
After a missed field goal by the Orediggers, the Western offense caught fire and rattled off 38 unanswered points.
Jet Campbell completed a late touchdown pass to
Kyle Torgerson and Counts scored a second touchdown. But the deficit was too much for the Orediggers.
Jund completed 22-of-35 for 381 yards passing and four touchdowns to four different receivers.
Campbell finishing 19-of-37 and one touchdown.
Kiley Caprara had a career day catching 12 passes for 188 yards.
Counts finished with 70 yards on 17 attempt and two scores.
Torgerson had four catches for 83 yards and a score.
Mark Estes caught four passes for 52 yards.
Reese Neville lead the Bulldog rushing attack running for 102 yards. Colten McPhee had 67 yards rushing.
Nate Simkins caught nine passes for the Bulldogs for 131 yards.
Blake Allred and
Cole Wyant had nine tackles each leading the Oredigger defense.
Brandon Morely and Keshawn James-Newby had eight tackles each. James-Newby also had a sack.
Montana Tech is on the road next weekend traveling to Montana State Northern.
