BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech women's basketball gave a solid effort against No. 6 Carroll College but fell short 64-57.
The Orediggers (11-12, 2-6) trailed 25-17 at halftime. Tech cut the Saints lead 33-31 going on a 12-0 run in the third quarter. The Orediggers trailed by five in the fourth quarter but the Saints pulled away down the stretch.
The Orediggers shot 52.6% from the field and went 5 for 12 from long.
The Saints shot 46.2% from the field.
Brooke Heggie led the Orediggers with 18 points. The senior also had four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Tavia Rooney finished with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rooney also had six assists and two steals.
Mollie Peoples had nine points hitting 3 of 6 from deep.
Danielle Wagner led the Saints with 26 points.
Montana Tech travels to Great Falls to face Providence Thursday.
