LEWISTON, Idaho – Montana Tech women's basketball started slow but battled against Whitman College at the Lewis-Clark Basketball Tournament falling 72-62.
The Orediggers (1-1) started slow trailing 8-0 in the first quarter but fought their way back in to bring the score to 19-15 before the end of the first frame. Tech was behind 38-29 at the break. The second half was nearly even scoring but the first half was the difference maker.
The Orediggers shot 42.3% from the field in the first half and finished with a 40% shooting percentage in the game. Tech made 14 of 24 from the free throw line.
Whitman shot 42.9% from the field in the game and had a slight edge at the boards 38-37.
Tavia Rooney led the Orediggers with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Aubrie Rademacher had 10 points while shooting 3 for 5 from the field and 4 of 6 from the free throw line.
Dani Urick had 8 points.
Sydney Abbott led Whitman with 22 points and Lindsay Drango had 21.
Korin Baker had a game-high 9 rebounds.
The Orediggers play the Lewis-Clark State Warrior tomorrow at 4 p.m.
