BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana Tech women's basketball played an exhibition game at Montana State Billings falling to the Yellowjackets falling to the Yellowjackets 70-54.
The Yellowjackets jumped out early with the Orediggers falling behind 45-21 at the break. Tech shot 33.3% from the field in the first half hit 48.4% and knocked down 4 of 10 from long.
The Orediggers outscored the Yellowjackets in the second half but the deficit was too much to overcome. Tech finished shooting 37.5% in the game and hit 5 of 17 from beyond the arc.
Dani Urick led the Orediggers with13 points going 2 for 6 from deep and 5 of 5 from the free throw line.
Tavia Rooney had 12 points and went 4 for 9 from the field and 1 for 1 from three. Rooney also had 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Challis Westwater had 6 points and 6 rebounds.
MSUN outrebounded Tech 37-30.
Chloe Williams led the Yellowjackets with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Williams shot 5 of 10 from the field coming off the bench.
Kortney Nelson and Dyauni Boyce had 11 points each.
The game does not count on Montana Tech's record. The Orediggers (1-0) hit the road this weekend when they travel to Lewiston, Idaho facing Whitman College Friday and Lewis-Clark State Saturday.
