BUTTE, Mont. – Montana State Northern held off Montana Tech late in the game to win the final game of the regular season 55-51.
Brooke Heggie tied the game at 51 with 51 seconds to play. The Skylights hit four free throws in the final seconds to seal the win.
The Orediggers (12-18, 3-12) had a narrow 29-28 lead going into halftime, but were outscored 12-3 in the third quarter.
Tech finished shooting just 29% from the field. Northern shot 39.3% from the field.
Dani Urick broke into the 1,000 point club leading the Orediggers with 18 points.
Heggie finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Tavia Rooney had seven points and 10 rebounds.
Sydney Hovde led the Skylights with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Montana Tech will travel to Montana Western on Wednesday night for the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament.
