GARDEN GROVE, Calif. – No. 7 Montana Tech faced Stanton University for the first time as the Elks are in their first year of intercollegiate athletics. The Orediggers bulldozed the Elks 92-51.
Tech (8-2) shot 57% from the field and hit 8 of 15 long balls. The Oredigger's strong shooting shoed at the free throw line as well making 28 of 33 attempts.
The Elks shot just 37% from the field but turned the ball over 18 times. Tech finished with 9 steals on the night.
The Orediggers led on the boards with a 33-26 rebound margin.
Six Orediggers finished in double-figures led by
Ifeanyi Okeke with 13 points.
Michael Ure,
Caleb Bellach and
Hayden Diekhans had 132 points each.
Camdyn LaRance had 10 points.
Belach and Diekhans had five rebounds apiece.
Mykale Mundy led the Elks with 16 points, 3 rebounds and steals.
The Orediggers are in Lancaster, California on Tuesday when they take on the (RV) University of Antelope Valley.
