Angwin, Calif. -- Hayden Diekhans and
Brayden Koch scored 21 points each to lead the seventh-ranked Montana Tech men's basketball team to a 91-68 runaway win at Pacific Union Friday afternoon.
The pair led four Orediggers in double-figure scoring.
Michael Ure chipped in 14 points, and
Keeley Bake added 10. Diekhans led Tech (8-0) on the boards with seven, while Bake and Koch each distributed four assists.
After PUC scored the first bucket of the contest, Ure knocked down a 3-pointer to spark an 11-0 Montana Tech run as the visitors took control in the early going. The Diggers stretched the lead to as many as 19 in the first half, hitting that high-water mark on Koch's jumper with 3:34 remaining.
Tech led 48-35 at halftime with Diekhans (12 points) and Ure (11) both in double figures by the break.
Pacific Union (0-5) scored the first five points of the second to cut the lead back under 10, but it didn't last long. Tech rattled off a 6-0 run before the half's first media timeout to end all doubt, leading by double digits the rest of the way. The Orediggers stretched the lead to as many as 28 before a late PUC rally. Koch scored 12 of his 21 in the second stanza.
D'montay Warner led the Pioneers with 18 points.
Montana Tech will break for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to action at home next Friday for a 7 p.m. tipoff against UMaine-Fort Kent.
