KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- It will be a top-10 matchup in Butte for the second round of the NAIA Football Championship Series next Saturday.
No. 8-ranked Montana Tech will play host to No. 10 Northwestern (Iowa) on Bob Green Field, the NAIA national office announced Saturday evening with the full slate of second-round FCS matchups. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m.
The Orediggers carry a 9-2 record and the NAIA's seventh seed into postseason play. That includes a bye through the first round and home-field advantage in the second.
Montana Tech ranks ninth in the nation in scoring offense at 44.6 points per game and 14th in the country in total offense at 4,884. The high-powered Digger rushing attack is fifth in the NAIA at 6.0 yards per carry.

Northwestern is 8-2 on the season and carries the 11th seed into the playoffs. The Red Raiders, who hail from Orange City, Iowa, were the NAIA national champions in 2022, 1983, and 1973 and are making the 26th postseason appearance in program history.
This season's Northwestern team ranks second in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 8.7 points per game. Northwestern also had a bye through the first round.
Saturday's will be the first meeting between the two programs.
