DILLON, Mont. – The Montana Tech men's basketball team picked up their ninth straight victory downing Montana Western 76-62.
The Orediggers (23-4, 13-1) locked up more than a share of the Frontier Conference title tonight. For the second straight year they are the only Frontier Conference Champion in addition to their third title in three years.
Tech led for most of the game including a 35-25 lead at halftime. The Orediggers shot 50% from the field in the first half and finished with a 45.2% shooting percentage.
The long ball wasn't a factor for either team with the Orediggers going 4 for 17 and the Bulldogs 3 for 20.
Western shot 33.8% from the field on the night.
Tech outrebounded Western 48-36 and finished with 38 points in the paint. The Orediggers had 19 second chance points on 12 offensive boards.
Michael Ure was the rebounding force for the Oredigger finishing with a season high 13 boards. Ure had 9 points on the night.
Caleb Bellach led the team with 17 points. Bellach had 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a pair of steals.
Camdyn LaRance had another big night putting in 15 points from the bench. He was the lone Orediggers to make two three-pointers while shooting 5 for 8 from the field. LaRance had 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Asa Williams finished with 13 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. William was 5 for 10 from the field.
Ifeanyi Okeke went 4 for 5 from the field and finished with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
Michael Haverfield led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 4 rebounds.
'The Orediggers are at the University of Providence Saturday for the final game of the regular season. Tech tips-off against the Argos at 4 p.m.
