DILLON, Mont. -- Four Montana Tech men's basketball players scored in double figures Thursday as the 11th-ranked Orediggers topped Frontier Conference rival Montana Western, 69-47, on the road.
Hayden Diekhans and
Michael Ure led the way for the Diggers with 14 points apiece.
Brayden Koch added 13 points, and
Keeley Bake scored 10 for Tech (15-2, 3-1 Frontier).
The Orediggers got off to a hot start, opening the game on an 11-5 run. The Bulldogs recovered from the initial blow, trimming the lead to 20-18 before Tech struck again. A couple of Ure free throws sparked another Digger run, this one a 10-2 tirade that sent the visitors into halftime with a 30-20 lead.
Bake sank a 3-pointer out of the gate in the second half, but the Bulldogs regained the momentum again as the half wore on. Western used a 9-0 run to cut the lead to two possessions with just over 10 minutes to play, but
Levi Torgerson's 3 calmed the waters for the Diggers, whose lead was never again threatened.
Tech got the defensive stops it needed down the stretch, and the Orediggers shot 6-for-13 from 3-point territory in the second half to put the win on ice.
Abi Adedo led the Bulldogs (10-7, 2-2) with 18 points.
Tech will return to home action Saturday at 4 p.m. against Providence. The Orediggers will be looking to run their home win streak to 10 games.
