BUTTE, Mont. -- Hayden Diekhans scored 19 points,
Michael Ure had a double-double, and the No. 11-ranked Montana Tech men's basketball team cruised to an 81-56 Frontier Conference win over visiting Providence.
The duo led five Orediggers in double figures.
Ifeanyi Okeke added 12 points for Tech, while
Josh Coulanges and
Connor Michaud scored 10 each off the bench. Ure totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Montana Tech (16-2, 4-1 Frontier) and the visiting Argos played a tight first half in which neither team led by more than seven points. Diekhans led the Diggers with 11 before the break.
Tech put the game away early in the second. The Orediggers opened up a 57-41 lead in the first 7 minutes of the period and never looked back. Ure totaled 12 points and four rebounds after halftime to help extend the lead. Tech went 12-for-14 as a team from the free-throw line in the second half.
The victory ran Tech's home win streak to 10 games, dating back to the start of the season.
Antoine Boyd Jr. paced the Argos with 12 points, while Jamil Bowles added 10.
Montana Tech will return to Frontier Conference play Thursday against MSU-Northern at 7 p.m. at home.
