HELENA, Mont. -- Kamryn Comba spent her Friday setting a new Montana Tech record in the women's indoor 800-meter run. Tuesday, the Frontier Conference named Comba its women's indoor track athlete of the week.
The junior from Idaho Falls, Idaho enjoyed a homecoming trip of sorts, competing in the Snake River Open at Idaho State University. Comba broke her own program-best in the 800m, clocking in at 2:22.14 to best her previous record by nearly 3 seconds. She was 17th in a highly competitive field in the event.
Comba also teamed up with
Ayla Janzen,
MaKenzie Sheils, and
Olleca Severson to race to ninth in the 4x400m relay. The quartet finished in 4:09.93 for the third-fastest time in Oredigger history.
It is the first-career Frontier athlete of the week award for Comba, who won the conference's outdoor championship in the 800m last spring and was an indoor national qualifier for the Orediggers in both the 600m and distance medley relay in 2024. This past fall, she was the runner up at the conference cross country championships and ran to 118th at the NAIA national cross country meet.
Comba and the Montana Tech track & field teams will continue the 2024-25 indoor season later this week at University of Idaho's Lauren McCluskey Memorial.
