KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Ayla Janzen is officially nationals-bound for the Montana Tech women's track & field team.
The sophomore from Silver Star qualified for the NAIA outdoor track & field championships in the heptathlon, the national office announced Monday evening.
Janzen boasted the 12th-best score in the combined event this season, scoring 4,528 points in her first-career multi at Dickinson State's Blue Hawk Games last month. That score put the Twin Bridges High product second on Montana Tech's all-time leaderboard and third in the Frontier Conference.
She set career-bests in the shot put, javelin, high jump, and 800-meter run in the process.
Janzen will represent the Orediggers May 20-21 at UNC Asheville's Karl Straus Track in Asheville, N.C.
She and Montana Tech will await the announcement of the remainder of the NAIA outdoor track & field championship field on Wednesday.
