KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Montana Tech's football team remained ranked in the top five in all three of the NAIA's rankings platforms, the national office announced Monday afternoon.

The Orediggers, with their 10-0 record and the Frontier Conference East Division title now under their belts, stayed at No. 3 in the NAIA's Football Performance Indicator and checked in at No. 4 in both the Massey Ratings and the Netting Professionals coaches' top 25.

Tech's score of 30.10 in the FPI — a data-driven metric that evaluates teams based on their wins and strength of schedule — kept the Orediggers at the No. 3 spot in that ratings system.

In the coaches' poll, Montana Tech moved up a spot into a tie for No. 4 with also-unbeaten Friends at 387 points. The Orediggers stayed the highest-ranked Frontier Conference team in the poll, joined by No. 13 College of Idaho, No. 14 Carroll, and No. 18 Montana Western. Dakota State was the first team out of the poll as the Trojans continued to receive votes.

The Orediggers gave up a couple of spots in the Massey Ratings, an independent system that accounts for strength of schedule, independently ranks teams based on offense and defense, and weights home and road wins differently. Tech moved to No. 4 in the ratings with a score of 4.85.

Defending national champion Grand View stayed at No. 1 in all three ratings.

The NAIA's Football Championship Series selection committee uses both the FPI and Massey ratings as criteria for the postseason; the coaches' poll is not considered.

Montana Tech heads into the final week of the regular season with a chance to cap off the first unbeaten campaign in program history. The Orediggers kick off against Valley City State at 1 p.m. Saturday on Bob Green Field.
